Leigh Fibers, Inc. has introduced a new Fire-Retardant (FR) Shoddy, part of its SafeLeigh line of products, to help automotive suppliers meet current and new specifications, such as the Federal DOT MVSS 302. The new product includes fire-retardant aramids and is made from 100% recycled material.

SafeLeigh FR shoddy is a cost-effective alternative to the materials traditionally used in trunk liners, headliners, upholstery backing, interior acoustical components and interior engine components, according to the company. It helps automotive suppliers and OEMs meet the growing demand for environmentally-friendly content and is designed to be compatible with all common forming systems.Since fire-retardant aramids are incorporated into the new material, users can eliminate chemical treatments and drying time.
